DOUBLE CHECK THAT PACKAGE

A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months, he had been admiring a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom. Knowing that his father could well afford it, he told him the car was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man looked for signs that his father had purchased the car. On the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box. Inside was a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father. “With all your money, you give me a Bible?” The young man turned and stormed out of the house, leaving the Holy Book behind.

Many years passed, and the young man turned out to be a very successful business owner. He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family. He was happy with his life, except for the fact that he had not seen his father since the day of his graduation. He realized his father was very old and knew that he should go visit him.

Before he was able to make visiting arrangements, a call came, informing him that his father had suddenly passed away. His father’s will specified that his son was to inherit all of his possessions. He
needed to go to his father’s home immediately in order to take care things.

When he arrived, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.
As he was searching through his father’s important papers, he found the Bible he had been given years ago, still new, just as he had left it. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he reached the center, a car key dropped from an envelope taped within. A tag was attached to the key. On one side was a dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had dreamed of owning. On the other side was the date of his graduation and the words “PAID IN FULL.”

The moral of the story is:

HOW OFTEN DO WE MISS OUT ON BLESSINGS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT COME PACKAGED THE WAY WE WANT OR THINK THEY SHOULD BE?

It is my earnest plea that you do not overlook the blessings in your own life. Do not miss out on them because of the way they are delivered.

It’s Worth The Struggle

One day, a man found a cocoon. As he began to watch this cocoon, a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could. He believed it could go no further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.

The man continued to watch the butterfly, because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand. Surely, they would be able to support the body, which would contract in time.

Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

The man, in his kindness and haste, did not understand that both the restricting cocoon and the struggle were required. This was nature’s way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings to prepare it for flight. Through struggle, it would achieve its own freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes, the struggle is exactly what we need in life. Easy lives without any obstacles would leave us crippled. We would not be as strong as we could have been.

Be thankful for your struggles and embrace them.  It is because of them that you have developed into a conqueror. Instead spending your life crawling, you are able to FLY!!!

You ARE Valuable!

In a recent seminar a well known speaker started off by holding up a $100 bill. In a room of 300, he asked, “Who would like this $100 bill?” Hands started going up everywhere.

He said, “I am going to give this $100 to one of you, but first  let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the hundred dollar bill up.

He then asked, “Who still wants it?”

Still the hands were up in the air all over the building.

“Well,” he replied, “What if I do this?” And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty, he asked, “Now who still wants it?” Still all hands went into the air with no regards.

Lastly, the man put the $100 in one of the nastiest trashcans one has ever seen.

He pulled it out, crushed, stomped and crumpled. With it dirty and smelling of garbage, he asked once again, “Who wants this $100?” Once again everyone kept their hands up.

He said, “My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $100.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. Many feel thrown away like garbage and even believe that they reek of nastiness.

We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your worth. YOU ARE SPECIAL & YOU ARE VALUABLE – Don’t ever forget it!

I’M GETTING BETTER

There may be days when you get up in the morning and things aren’t the way you had hoped they would be. That’s when you have to tell yourself that THINGS ARE GOING TO GET BETTER.

There are going to be times when people disappoint you and let you down. But those are the times when you must remind yourself to trust sound judgments and opinions, to keep your life focused on believing in yourself because THINGS HAVE TO GET BETTER.

There will be challenges to face and changes to make in your life, and it is up to you to accept them. Constantly keep yourself headed in the right direction for you knowing THINGS WILL MOST CERTAINLY GET BETTER.

It may not be easy at times, but in those times of struggle you will find a stronger sense of who you are. So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all you want your life to be. Because the challenges and changes will only help you to find the goals that you know are meant to come true for you & NOW THINGS ARE BETTER!!!

“Do the Impossible!”

One of my former basketball coaches once told me “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” I want to encourage you to go for it all this week. Make it your business not to miss out on any opportunities. Take a shot toward the impossible. Remember,  if you shoot for the moon and land amongst the stars, you are still much further than where you would’ve been had you never taken a shot at all.
